Bec + Bridge is a contemporary womens-wear label created in 2003 by two dynamic personalities - Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston. The duo have carved a niche in the Australian industry with their shared vision and intuitive business sense, earning the Bec + Bridge brand a formidable reputation both locally in Australia and abroad.

The designers’ highly coveted collections consist of something for every fashion forward customer, from their modern effortless separates, to their signature party dresses - crafted to elegantly embrace the female form. Meticulous attention to detail and superior materials make
for chic and desirable pieces season on season. The Bec + Bridge girl is up and amongst the latest trends, always being sure to make them her own. She relishes things that are new and different and loves to stand out wherever she goes.

Bec + Bridge strike a fine balance between aspirational and achievable fashion, a niche its creators have worked hard to perfect since the label’s origins in 2003. The pair have a meticulous eye for detail alongside a ‘finger-on-the-pulse’ ability to create commercially savvy designs. True originals, their collections connect with ‘go get it’ girls all over the world.

Their unique approach sets them firmly apart from their peers and at the heart of every collection lies strong design aesthetic. Contoured lines and sleek silhouettes create a distinct signature style that pulses from every stitch and seam with a contemporary and progressive edge. Bec + Bridge designs are bold and confident. Their renowned innovative take on the party dress, as well as a refined collection of chic separates in fresh and vibrant colour palettes are living proof, but then again so is the Bec + Bridge girl.



BIOGRAPHY


Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston met on the first day of their BA in Fashion and Textiles at the University of Technology in the year 2000. After being partnered for a debut course assignment, they quickly became inseparable and were soon known among their friends as ‘Bec and Bridge’

Realising their friendship was destined for greater things, the duo collaborated on their first fashion project - customising worn-out jeans of their male friends with spray paint and embellishments. What began as a design project turned into a thriving business as word spread and orders came flooding in. At the age of 20, Becky and Bridget were developing their own denim jean and negotiating sales from independent stores
across Australia.

In 2003, after graduating with first class honours the design duo founded the Bec & Bridge label. Their venture into womenswear quickly gathered pace, with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia inviting Bec & Bridge to exhibit at the New Generation show in 2004. This placed the collection in front of the country’s leading fashion buyers, and a raft of premium Australian stockists followed suit.

After more than 10 years in business together, creative and business directors Becky and Bridget still make the major decisions collectively and are deeply involved in their successful label. Both are guided by the notion of balance - staying healthy, working hard, and taking time to relax. This work/life mantra and their strong friendship has led to the creative process and business sense that has guided the commercial aspect of their brand from day one.

As the women have grown and evolved – moving from fledgling designers to fashion entrepreneurs with families – the brand has progressed and expanded its target client base. Bec & Bridge collections are worn by celebrity clientele, early fashion adopters and seasoned style followers in Australia and overseas.

The label presented its first MBFWA showcase in 2004, quickly acquiring stockists across Australia including some of the country’s most premium designer boutiques. Bec + Bridge was approached by luxury department store David Jones to be apart of its Winter 2007 collection, and the retailer remains a loyal and successful stockist today. As well as being stocked in all David Jones doors nationwide, online and in New Zealand. Bec & Bridge can also be seen in premium boutiques throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Following Australian success and domination, the brand set it’s sights on the USA. Within 12 months Bec & Bridge boasted 40 US stockists, and today the total stands at over 250 stockists throughout the USA and Canada, this includes leading online retailers Shopbop.com + Revolve. Bec & Bridge works with a dedicated Los Angeles based publicist and their global sales team to ensure it is always on the pulse with whatever is happening in the US market. Bec + Bridge has set it’s sights on the UK/ European market, obtaining a sales agency based out of the UK and Europe. To date Bec + Bridge is now working in the Uk + Europe with leading retailers such as Asos, Yoox, Harvey Nichols and German online retailer Zalando.

2018 saw the brand expand into retail, opening their first stand alone store in Sydneys iconic suburb of Bondi, followed by James street Brisbane and most recently Mosman on Sydney’s North Shore. In 2019 Bec + Bridge will show their Resort 19/20 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion week Australia, which will mark 16 years in business and fashion. Following on from this the brand will continue to expand their Retail stores throughout Australia and brand presence globally through their ever growing e-commerce and wholesale businesses.
